Teach For America seeks to reach the day when all students have access to an excellent education and has seen that school and school system leaders play a pivotal role in accelerating progress toward this vision. Teach For America – Greater Cleveland seeks a Director of Alumni Talent to grow the number and impact of alumni serving in school and school system leadership roles. The Director of Alumni Talent will identify and recruit from our alumni base of over 300 and our national alumni base to cultivate a strong bench of talent for school and school system leadership roles at a variety of levels across our region while simultaneously building relationships with preparation program and hiring partners to develop and place alumni talent in school and system leadership roles. The Director of Alumni Talent will play a role in inspiring corps members to consider a school leadership trajectory through annual strategies. Additionally, the Director of Alumni Talent will play a role in developing a strong culture among alumni currently in school leadership and investing them in taking part in high quality professional development opportunities across the country. The Director of Alumni Talent will be a member of the Program Continuum team and will report to the Senior Managing Director of Program.
Cultivate, Inspire and Prepare Alumni to Obtain Leadership Roles in Education and the Supporting Ecosystem (45%)
- Leverage data systems to identify candidates with the potential to take on prioritized education leadership roles.
- Meet individually with local alumni to learn interests, passions, and long-term leadership goals and provide information, encouragement, and support around education leadership opportunities and pathways.
- Based on relationships and conversations, connect alumni to education leadership opportunities or refer to other members of the regional team if alumnus is a fit for leadership outside of schools and school systems.
- Plan and execute the annual ImpACT Cleveland Hiring Weekend for both local and national alumni who are interested in teaching or leading in Greater Cleveland.
- Develop and execute strategies to leverage TFA Beta Connect in order to connect emerging alumni leaders to roles that positively impact the education system in Greater Cleveland
- Develop strategy and execute on a strong plan to administer TFA Alumni Survey to our base
Partner with Training Programs to Prepare Alumni for School and School System Leadership (15%)
- Deeply understand the structures and nuance of various school and school system training opportunities locally and nationally
- Cultivate relationships with prioritized preparation pathways and identify opportunities to strengthen program quality through partnership
- Prioritize, manage and implement partnerships with school and school system preparation programs in order to lower barriers and maximize alumni participation in preparation programs.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with hiring partners for school and school system leadership roles in partnership with other members of Program team.
Facilitate Strategies to Develop, Celebrate and Retain Alumni Currently Teaching & Leading in Education (15%)
- Motivate and engage alumni teaching and leading in education to participate in local and national professional development opportunities available through Teach For America
- In partnership with the SMD, Program, create and execute an equitable and impactful plan to administer the professional development fund for alumni teachers and school and systems leaders.
- Strengthen partnerships with high quality teacher leadership programs
- Create and implement strategies to recognize the accomplishments, learning and impact of alumni teachers and leaders.
- Develop strong culture among alumni in education.
Implement Strategies that Inspire Corps Members to Consider Leading in Education (15%)
- Identify, recruit and support corps members and alumni to apply for leadership roles at Teach For America’s national institute that can build their skills and serve as a catalyst for further leadership in education locally.
- Play a role in career conversations with 2nd year corps members as part of Beyond 2 program experience.
Leading Across the Movement (10%)
- Participate in corps member selection and matriculation.
- Cultivate corps members and alumni for institute and staff positions to fuel our movement
- Engage in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and continued growth and development.
- 5-7 years of professional experience strongly preferred
- Experience managing projects to reach and exceed ambitious goals required
- Teach For America alumni preferred
- Prior recruitment or career counseling experience preferred

- Able to travel efficiently within the region to meet with alumni and partners
