Under the guidance of the Associate Executive Director, the Sports/Teens Program Director is responsible for the budgeting, planning, implementation, management and supervision of all West Toledo YMCA Sports and Teen programming.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Plan, implement and oversee all programming in the sports and teen departments of the West Toledo YMCA branch of the YMCA of Greater Toledo. 
  • Develop and administer budget, including expense control and income generation, responsible for meeting and/or exceeding all budget targets.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Understands and fully participates in the Y-Improvement model for his/her branch as well as any assigned Association initiatives.  Will ensure data within the Y-Improvement model is accurate and up to date.  Will be accountable for meeting or exceeding target conditions related to his/her areas of responsibility.
  • Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. 
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Manage and monitor program enrollment for all applicable programs, being accountable for reaching program enrollment goals.
  • Set the proper example at all times by enforcing all safety rules and following YMCA policies. Responsible for program safety including regular inspection and monitoring of supplies and equipment as well as staying current on latest trends in program safety.
  • Develop and promote programming within the community, including direct leadership of teen programming.
  • Establish and maintain collaborations with outside agencies and groups.
  • Participate in a leadership role with the YMCA’s Annual Campaign.
  • Be a part of the Association’s staff leadership team in the areas of sports and teens.  Develop program objectives in coordination with Association objectives.
  • Work with Associate Executive Director to determine appropriate professional development opportunities.
  • Prepare reports as needed and required.
  • Responsible for any additional duties and projects as necessary to achieve the goals and priorities of the Association.
Educational Background: 
Also required is a degree in a related field of study such as recreation or education.  
Skills/Experience: 
  • The incumbent should have YMCA background to properly understand the nature and function of YMCA programs and services.  
  • Good supervisory and record keeping skills are required.  
  • Current certifications in CPR/First Aid are also required to be maintained.  
  • Certifications in relevant YMCA program areas are recommended. 
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $27,000.00 - $30,000.00
