This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Supports Aquatics Program Director in developing, organizing and implementing high quality, member-focused YMCA aquatic programs.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Works with Program Director to establish new program activities and expand program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Suggests strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
- Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Secures and schedules pool facilities. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
- Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings.
- Creates and schedules swim classes and water fitness classes.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Supports in the development and monitoring program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
- Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner as directed.
- Helps to compile program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
- Act as a replacement or find replacements for schedule gaps for Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, & Water Fitness Instructors
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of 3-years related experience preferred with 1year supervisory experience.
- Minimum age of 21.
- Current certifications required include Lifeguard, Swim Inst, Pro CPR, FA, O2 and AED
- Certified Pool Operator (with-in six months of hire)
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Must have reliable transportation with state required insurance and clean driving record to visit various branches.
- Driving responsibilities to include trips to local branches and stores for supplies.
