The mission of Amnesty International USA’s Individuals At Risk Program (IAR) is to free prisoners of conscience, support human rights defenders and campaign alongside individuals and communities at risk of human rights abuses here in the USA and around the world. The IAR internship provides experience in: data collection and analysis; developing communication skills; creating and implementing effective campaigning strategies and tactics; conducting research; managing databases; learning about the international human rights framework. The following three components are central to the IAR Program and the internship provides opportunities to gain experience on all three:
- The Urgent Action Network (UAN): through which our subscribers take action on emergency cases of human rights violations around the world.
- Ongoing casework: campaigning on cases in the US and around the world: www.amnestyusa.org/iar
- Case Commitment Initiative: through which student and local groups take action on long term cases of human rights violations around the world.

Additional Information:
- The internship is full time (35 hours per week).
- The internship is available for the Spring, Summer or Fall in Washington, DC.
