Under the direction of the Vice President of Operations, the Child Care Director manages daily operations of the YMCA Child Development Center, including related program and babysitting services of the association in accordance with the policies and accepted purpose of the association and the state.

Areas of Responsibility: 

General

  • Model daily the YMCA values and characteristics of Caring, Honesty, Respect and responsibility and have staff do the same.
  • Model professional behavior and appearance daily and act as a positive and effective liaison between the YMCA and the community.
  • Represent the YMCA effectively by assume leadership roles in the YMCA and in the community whenever possible.
  • Create an atmosphere that promotes member satisfaction and addresses member needs.

Specific Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Assumes direct responsibility for membership development, satisfaction and retention
  • Contributes to providing a safe and member-friendly environment throughout the YMCA
  • Develops and maintains the department’s operational budget.
  • Provides leadership to all relevant committees.
  • Recruits trains and supervise s volunteers and staff in the delivery of membership services and programs
  • Assumes direct responsibility for the facility and activities within at all times.
  • Supervise daily program and building operations of the Child Development Center.
  • Maintain accurate records as needed for the purpose of program planning, evaluation, and budget development are kept (i.e. payroll, attendance etc.) 
  • Assume other responsibilities as needed in order to maintain and enhance the delivery of service of the Findlay YMCA
  • Communicate regularly with supervisors, other staff and volunteers.

Specific Program Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop and implement a well rounded and developmentally correct program for all child care programs within the department, consistent with goals and objectives established for the program and consistent with YMCA philosophy.
  • Responsible for staffing and scheduling of all related childcare programs and activities, including, family program, summer day care, before and after school activities.
  • Work collaboratively with other community agencies and other staff to enhance opportunities for program wherever possible.
  • Enrich and expand current programming by developing and implementing new and innovative program opportunities.
Skills/Experience: 
  • The candidate should complete YMCA Principles and Practices within 2 years of hire.
  • The candidate is should obtain Branch Leader status within two years of hire and Organizational status within five years of hire.
  • The candidate must have a degree in early childhood education, or a related area and remain current with state childcare regulations and codes.
  • The candidate must have an understanding of YMCA philosophy, governing structure and community relations.
  • The candidate must have strong supervisory, organizational and budgeting skills.
  • The candidate must have strong communication and human relations skills to work closely and interact professionally with parents, committees and community leaders
  • The candidate must have a certificate stating they have passed a health examination that includes a negative tuberculin test and a statement of physical and emotional competence for working with young children, signed by a licensed physician.
  •  The candidate must provide other certifications or requirements as deemed necessary by the state.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $33,000.00 - $45,000.00
