This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high quality, member-focused YMCA aquatic programs.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop and implement a variety of aquatics programs for youth and adults including special populations.  Oversee swim lesson programs, YMCA competitive swim team and pool operations.
  • Assist in creating and distributing marketing materials and program information. 
  • Establish collaborations with other organizations to further promote the YMCA mission and community togetherness.
  • Manage the financial activities of assigned departments.
  • Oversee the hiring, training, and supervision of staff.  Recruit volunteers and develop a winning team.
  • Establish and enforce rules, procedures, and schedules for assigned programs and facilities including pool schedules.
  • Monitor and maintain pool chemicals and facility maintenance.
  • Maintain records including Daxko Operations.
  • Provide lifeguard and CPR training as needed.
  • Foster a climate of innovation to develop member and community focused programs that support the Y's mission.
  • Display empathy and compassion for people in all interactions with the purpose of making a difference.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent, preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Two years or more of YMCA experience or related experience within another organization.
  • YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Trainer preferred.  
  • CPR/First Aid/AED instructor certification.
  • Pool Operator (preferred)
  • Proven skills in staff leadership and supervision, safety and risk management expertise

  • Team player who is flexible with work schedule as evening and weekend coverage will be required.  
  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are essential including the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.

Required Certifications

  • American Red Cross or YMCA Swim Instructor
  • Pool operator (preferred)
  • CPR/First Aid instructor
  • Lifeguard certificate
Compensation/Benefits: 

$32,000.00 - $34,000.00
