The YMCA of the Seacoast in Portsmouth, NH, a branch of The Granite YMCA, is currently seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic individual to be our Aquatics Director.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Directs, supervises and monitors aquatics operations and program activities to meet YMCA objectives and adhere to state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
- Develops, monitors and effectively forecasts program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Establishes new program activities, increases participation, and expands programming within the community in accordance with Association/Branch strategic and operating plans.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of and participation in the program.
- Provides direct supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator and all other related department staff.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, directs and motivates personnel and volunteers.
- Reviews and evaluates staff and volunteer performance.
- Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
- Scheduled to teach and/or guard up to 18 hours per week.
- Develops and nurtures collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Works with Head Coach to develop and implement a recruitment plan for lesson participants to become competitive swimmer within the Aquatics Department
- Participates and contributes towards the goals of program task teams, and other assigned committees of the Association.
- Conducts and maintains accurate aquatics records including: program registration forms, program stats and attendance rosters, and equipment.
- Creates and schedules aquatics programs and classes.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information. Ensures marketing materials comply with Y branding guidelines and uses Y Voice to effectively tell the YMCA story.
- Maintains accurate records for aquatics programs, facilities, and staff.
Educational Background:
Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and related experience.
Skills/Experience:
- The candidate should be a YMCA Director or Professional Director with a background in both program and administration.
- Must be able to delegate and supervise, direct and guide program staff to accomplish the association’s short and long-term goals.
- Director will be required to hold necessary certifications to teach aquatic instructional and fitness programs and effectively supervise aquatics, child care, and other programs.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and have knowledge and understanding of administrative, management, financial, program, and human relations skills.
- Three or more years’ experience in aquatics programming and systems.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office and email applications, along with ability to learn the internal YMCA software.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $35,000.00 - $45,000.00
