This is a full-time administrative position where the individual is ultimately responsible for the programming and integrity of the Armed Services YMCA Of Alaska, and assists the Executive Director with the overall management of the YMCA and supervision of personnel. An employee in this position is responsible for the entire operation of the Armed Services YMCA of Alaska Fairbanks in the absence of the Director. Considerable independent judgment and discretion must be exercised in contacts with subordinates, military personnel, the public and personnel from national, state, local, and private agencies.
Financial Management
- Reviews all invoices to ensure accuracy and appropriateness for the purchase.
- Ensures that all donations, cash, check or credit card, are properly documented and posted to the appropriate accounting code.
- Ensures that all donations are timely deposited into the appropriate bank account.
- Ensures that all donations are timely acknowledged with a thank you letter to the donor.
- Assists in the development of the annual budget.
- Assists in the development of program and special event budgets.
Program Development
- Assist in researching potential new programs that may be offered by the ASYMCA to meet the needs of our military members and their families.
- Analyze proposed new programs to ensure that it meets our mission, can be sustained for its duration, and it reaches our targeted clients.
- Successful set up of the new Before and Afterschool Childcare in coordiantion with the North Slope Borough School District
Program Delivery
- Responsible for the Military Courtesy Lounge at Airport.
- ASYMCA’s lead on the Annual Combat Fishing Tournament.
- Assists with several special events such as, the Annual Salute to the Military, Anchorage Golf Tournament, Father/Daughter Dance, Military Appreciation Day, Chamber of Commerce Picnics, Awards and Recognition Luncheon, etc
- Assist in determining what data needs to be tracked in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Assist in tracking expenses to be charged against various grants and donations from Foundations or Government entities as required in the grant agreement.
Fundraising
- Assist in drafting grant applications to support ASYMCA programs.
- Assist in identifying and developing relationships with potential donors
- Assist in grant writing and other funding requests
Supervision
- Supervise all program and support staff, completing annual evaluations for each staff member
- Interviewing, hiring and onboarding of all program staff
- Ensure quality programs are being delivered by all program staff
- Two to four years YMCA or related experience preferred
- Experience with military lifestyles preferred
- Within 30 days of hire include: completion of Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff, CPR, First Aid, AED and Blood borne Pathogens.
- A valid driver's license and clean driving abstract required.
Salary: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00
