Teach For America – Bay Area seeks a Manager, Onboarding and Credentialing to develop a vision for the pre-corps experience throughout matriculation. They will work with our national admissions team, the Bay Area regional team, and the newly accepted applicants to successfully matriculate and onboard corps members into the Bay Area teaching corps. The Manager, Onboarding and Credentialing will be a key leader in framing the Corps Member experience focusing on the early corps member continuum: Teach For America confirmation process, onboarding, and introduction into the Bay Area community. The first impression of our region is the foundation for how Corps Members view Teach For America. In this role, you are charged with shaping a Corps Member’s first impression of TFA-Bay Area.
The Manager, Onboarding and Credentialing will envision and execute a streamlined and orienting onboarding process for our newest teachers with a specific emphasis on incoming corps member selection, onboarding, and communication. This position will plan and oversee our strategies to matriculate new corps members and ensure they are properly credentialed. You will build personal relationships with incoming corps members and help them understand and meet expectations and deadlines to begin their training and start teaching in the Bay Area.

This position reports directly to the Head of Pre-Service, and the location for this role is flexible within the Bay Area.
- Centrally lead and manage our regional confirmation and retention campaign strategy, including but not limited to managing team processes to welcome and retain our new corps members.
- Liaison with the national Admissions and Recruitment Teams to ensure strong assignment and matriculation aligned with our growth strategy and corps size goals, and the needs of school and district partners.
- Create data and reporting systems to track corps member matriculation and retention trends and identify best practices.
- Plan and coordinate workshops to prepare corps members for state credentialing exams, regional expectations, and overall corps culture.
- Design and execute projects and initiatives to increase retention by keeping corps members engaged and invested prior to institute.
- Design and maintain informational and organizational system, such as the incoming corps member tracker, to ensure accurate data entry and progress monitoring.
- Track corps member progress in meeting requirements.
- Develop a comprehensive vision and strategy to support corps members in passing required exams.
- Set vision and direction to drive towards a streamlined experience for our newest teachers
- Create and send consistent corps member communications related to joining the corps, testing, credentialing, university partnerships and placement to ensure a successful onboarding experience.
Prior Experience
- Minimum three years of relevant work experience
- Previous experience with recruitment and/or hiring preferred
- Understanding of California credentialing regulations preferred
Work Demands
- Must be able to travel regularly among Bay Area offices (San Francisco, San Jose, Richmond, and Oakland)
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary; overnight travel is minimal.
