This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements a high quality YMCA School Age Child Care program and Summer Day Camp.
Areas of Responsibility:
Childcare/School Age
- Manages, directs and coordinates the child care programs for assigned locations. Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities. Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parents, groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Review and monitor classroom lesson plans and newsletters providing feedback when necessary. Ensure programs are incorporating learning standards and individualization into lesson plans.
- Maintains proper records/department files.
- Leading a high quality program and maintaining high enrollment to support the needs of the community.
Day Camp
- Creates and schedules all camp sessions and activities.
- Monitors daily camp operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
- Secures facilities and admission for day camp field trips and events.
- Secures and monitors transportation for field trips.
- Purchases and maintains supplies for camp activities.
- Purchases and distributes camp t-shirts
Educational Background:
Bachelors degree in Education or related field
Skills/Experience:
- Experience creating a safe, fun and educational environment for children
- Have at least 2 years experience working with children
- Expereince with staff development, budget management
