Under the direction of the CEO, the Membership Engagement Director is responsible for the administration and direction of member service initiatives at our Y. The candidate's key function is to build strong lasting relationships with members, employees and the community that will deepen the impact of our cause. The Membership Engagement Director will represent our Y in the community as a leader and partner, being a champioin and spokesperson for the Y's membership initiatives.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Leads and implements membership strategies that support recruitment of new members and increasing retention of excisting members. Creates a mission driven and member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
- Senior leader for the organization including duties such as recruiting, developing, and directing personnel and volunteers in the Welcome Center including Membership Director, Child Watch personnel, fund development and marketing team. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Promotes program and membership enrollment with existing and potential members. Supports program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in and web registrations.
- Leads marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and comply with Y branding guidelines. Leads the volunteer Membership and Marketing Committee.
- With the support of the Membership Director, develops, monitors, manages and implements membership budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Organizes membership events at the YMCA and represents the YMCA at community events to promote the YMCA. Coordinates use of facilites for program activities and rental groups.
- A leader in corporate development and sponsorships for the Annual Campaign.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in customer service or human resources; wellness experience strongly preferred but no required.
- Excellent computer skills and experience with standard business software.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Must possess excellent organizational skills and written/oral communication skills, including public speaking.
