Under the direction of the Aquatics Experience Executive, the Director of Mobile Swim Lessons & Water Safety Education serves as a roving ambassador for water safety in Hillsborough County. The Director will manage a team of mobile swim lesson staff to oversee programs that provide water safety education and mobile swim lessons to communities throughout Hillsborough County. The Director oversees the day-to-day operation of the Mobile Swim Lesson and Water Safety Education programs and will implement community water safety education lessons, coordinate and attend community events, build relationships with community partners, and purchase and organize materials for distribution and program delivery. The Director will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of the program and for compiling reports to present to funders and leadership.

The ideal candidate will have a desire, passion and ability to bring dynamic, educational and effective water safety and mobile swim lesson programs to Hillsborough County. The ideal candidate will have highly developed interpersonal, networking and rapport-building skills.
Required:
- Knowledge of swim lesson program development, management and water safety education delivery.
- Ability to seek out and participate in networking opportunities to increase program visibility and community awareness.
- Have exemplary customer service skills to communicate with all community participants and partners.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other individuals and agencies.
- Ability and desire to work in an outdoor environment, which may include inclement weather.
- A passion for service, quality, and the pursuit of excellence are a must.
- Successful completion of cognitive and behavioral assessments, background screening and drug test. First Aid, CPR, AED and 02 obtained within first 30 days of employment and then maintained throughout employment.
Preferred:
- Current lifeguard and swim lesson certifications from a nationally recognized organization, and/or experience teaching swim lessons. (will be required to obtain within 60 days)
- Bilingual (English-Spanish).

This position is funded through a contract service grant running through September of 2018 for the current contract period. After this period, based on the director’s performance, every effort will be made to transition the current director to another opportunity until the next contract period begins in January of 2019 (pending future contract approval). The salary amount shown is based on 12 months.
