350.org is looking for an experienced Digital Campaigner to lead the development and rollout of rapid response campaigns and longer-term projects to stop all new fossil fuel projects and build the transition to 100% renewable energy for all.  

We’re looking for a gifted digital strategist and a creative problem-solver who’s able to leverage digital tactics and tools to build impactful campaigns.  

The ideal candidate will be someone who has a deep commitment to furthering climate justice and the aims of 350.org, alongside the writing and technical skills to bring it to life in a way that inspires thousands to take online and offline action.

This role will sit within 350’s Central Digital Team and will report directly to the Digital Director

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop, implement and monitor digital strategy to support 350’s global goals, in close collaboration with the digital, comms, campaigns and regional teams.
  • Coordinate the creation and dissemination of digital content (websites, online actions, blog posts, social and multimedia content) for assigned projects and mobilisations.
  • Identify opportunities and lead planning and implementation of global rapid-response online campaigns around a variety of targets that meet our goals of growing and empowering the global climate movement, including supporting bottom up, user generated campaigns.
  • Oversees 350's digital action toolkit and trains and coordinates global and regional digital staff to use these platforms effectively for their campaigns.
  • In conjunction with Translations Team, manages translated digital materials (email blasts, social media content, infographics etc)
  • Contributes to the training and digital empowerment of 350’s staff in digital campaigning skills and tools.
  • Forms and maintains partnerships that expand the digital reach of 350’s global campaigns.
  • Regularly contribute with campaigns content to 350.org’s global social media channels.
  • Supports and coordinates with selected regional digital staff to create, test and roll out effective digital campaigns.
  • Understand 350.org's history, campaigns, and theory of social change, and keep current with basic climate science and policy. From time to time, use this knowledge to represent 350.org's perspective in varied public venues based on geographic location and areas of expertise.
  • From time to time, contribute work towards 350.org's overall mission that is outside of standard responsibilities and instead relies solely on geographic location or work capacity.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5+ years of experience in the field of digital campaigning and movement organising
  • 4+ years project management experience
  • Strategic campaign development expertise and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Good communicator and collaborator able to work well in diverse teams
  • Ability to be flexible to work across all timezones, with preference for someone based in the Western hemisphere
  • Outstanding writing skills — we want someone who can rapidly produce content in 350.org’s voice to people all over the world
  • Adept at working flexibly and cross-culturally, with significant experience working internationally.
  • Experience using some (or all) of the online platforms employed by a digital campaigns team, including but not limited to Action Kit, Action Network, WordPress, and Control Shift Labs
  • Existing technical knowledge of HTML, CSS, Wordpress and SQL, or demonstrated ability to pick up similar technical skills quickly
  • Experience with managing large email lists and social media accounts
  • Video production experience and basic graphic design skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English

Note: Each of these is a plus, but no candidate could bring all of these. The successful candidate may only bring a handful.

  • Video editing and/or advanced graphic design skills
  • Proficiency in languages other than English
  • Deep expertise with Action Kit, Action Network, WordPress, and/or Control Shift
  • Experience working in the climate and clean energy movement
  • Significant experience working in, or with partners from, the Global South
  • Experience working with marginalized communities deeply affected by climate change and fossil fuels, such as indigenous communities on the front lines of fighting the extractive industry
  • Experience at the intersection of online and offline organizing, mobilization, and direct action
  • Demonstrated skill with data, analytics, and AB testing
  • Experience working directly with developers and designers/acting in a product-manager type of role
  • Demonstrated proficiency around equity, diversity, and anti-oppression work inside organizations
  • Experience working in a multilingual context, especially with managing a multilingual digital presence.
  • Experience building and maintaining partnerships and networks, preferably in the progressive/grassroots campaigning sector
  • Experience working in a virtual office environment
