Audubon is poised for tremendous growth in the upcoming years. The need for a centrist, environmental organization has never been greater. With strong support from our network, board and partners, we are embarking on a comprehensive campaign which will see us grow from our current $105 million to a $150 million non-profit in the upcoming years.
The VP, HR is the senior-most HR position at Audubon and will be a key player in this growth and expansion. S/he will report to the Chief of Staff and have frequent contact with the CEO and other top leaders. S/he will lead a team of 8 professionals (HR business partners and SMEs) that support Audubon’s leaders and its 700 + staff – a widely distributed, national network
Advisor to Leadership
- As a member of the senior leadership team, provide guidance and advice to members of the leadership team on talent strategy, people and culture issues, and HR compliance
Talent Acquisition and Retention – Make Audubon an employer of choice by ensuring we are able to attract and retain the talent needed to sustain and grow the organization. This would include
- Develop strategic staffing plans to support Audubon’s aggressive growth in the upcoming years
- Continue to expand our talent sources, including partnering with the VP, Equity Diversity and Inclusion to further diversify our pool
- Actively interviewing finalists for senior-level roles as part of the executive slate of interviewers
- Reviewing and upgrading our recruiting and onboarding procedures
- Developing retention strategies for high potentials
Staff Development/Learning
- Create a learning philosophy. Identify a comprehensive and coherent suite of career development activities that encompasses topics that are relevant and delivery that is accessible and cost-effective
- Review and expand “Audubon University”
Rewards Portfolio
- Review and improve our rewards portfolio in the face of the changing workforce demographics
- Ensure that Audubon’s compensation model and benefits offerings remain cost-efficient but competitive and aligned with being an employer of choice
Technology/HRIS
- Evaluate our current external partnerships and internal systems to ensure that Audubon fully maximizes next generation technology
- Ensure that Audubon optimizes technology to better deliver HR services to our matrixed and geographically dispersed workforce
- 10+ years of HR experience, with 5+ years and a track record of results leading the HR function
- A well-rounded leader in all HR disciplines – Recruiting/Talent Management, Learning and Development, Total Rewards (compensation and benefits), Employment Law, and HR Technology
- Ability to work at the most senior levels of an organization and to serve as a trusted advisor to executives
- A change advocate, able to guide an organization through growth and change, strong organizational design/development skills
- A relating style that is partnering and supportive while remaining transparent and direct. Able to deliver competing points of view while encouraging collaboration. Audubon is a matrixed organization with national, regional, and local teams and interests
