The Accelerate Fellowship’s Operations Director will play a critical role in supporting up to 50 undergraduate Accelerate Fellows and two Program Directors over the course of a eight week fellowship during the summer of 2018. He or she will plan and execute all systems over the course of the summer to support Accelerate Fellows, Program Directors, Teach for America staff members, and partner organizations. The Operations Director ensures that the Fellowship runs smoothly so that Accelerate Fellows can focus on delivering innovative solutions and on their own development. He or she is driven by the desire to create efficient systems that enable others to succeed. The Operations Director must be available to travel regularly and work evenings and weekends from June 18 through the first week of August 11, as the fellowship will take place in Chicago, Nashville, and New Mexico. Accelerate Program Directors must also be travel for in-person trainings (2-4 days) and participate in virtual and independent training and prep work during the spring and early summer.
- Support the Accelerate Program Directors by designing, developing and managing systems (such as XX), protocols, and procedures to maximize Fellows’ efficiency during the day.
- Create, manage, and train staff members and Accelerate Fellows on program-wide duties and systems
- Manage the Fellowship resources to maximize operational efficiency and Fellows’ development
- Gather, reflect on, and analyze data to achieve Fellowship goals
- Actively build culture by creating project plans to implement events and activities that align to the Accelerate’s vision for culture
- Collaborate with Teach For America staff and Accelerate Program Directors to create systems to ensure that Fellows’ needs are met.
- Work with Fellows and staff to problem-solve immediate logistical challenges.
- Consistent national travel throughout the course of the eight-week fellowship is required.
- Teach For America corps member experience is highly preferred
- Experience on Teach For America recruitment, regional, or institute staff is preferred
- Experience with school-based operations or operations is preferred
- Prior experience interviewing candidates in Teach For America’s admissions process preferred
Work Demands
- Ability to travel nationally over the course of the eight week fellowship during the months of June-August 2018
- Ability to travel nationally for one multi-day training during the months of April or May (tentative)
- Regular evening and weekend work may be required during June-August 2018
