The Central Coast YMCA is looking for an experienced, proven professional to lead an $8M operation serving more than 40,000+ members and program participants through 68 points of delivery: 5 branches, 31 afterschool sites and 32 program locations. The V.P. of Operations is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and must have a proven track record in operations, growing membership/program revenue, program innovation, grant funding, volunteer development and overall strategic development to expand program services throughout the Central Coast.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Supervises 5-7 Executive Directors to assure sound operations. Provides leadership and direction to the Branch Executives and corporate staff by coaching and providing overall direction to the branch boards and volunteers. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
  • Monitors monthly financial reports to assure that revenue targets are met and expenses 
  • are controlled.
  • Ensures the operational growth of the YMCA through program expansion, member recruitment and retention, pricing strategies, new site or program development and collaborations.
  • Provides guidance and cooperative leadership for the Annual Giving Campaigns for all the branches.
  • Identifies potential areas for branch cooperative programming to accomplish YMCA goals, and works with staff groups to develop and implement programs. Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs and leads branch staff in the planning, development and implementation of new program initiatives and activities.
  • Ensures that branch goals and all measurable outcomes are met that directly relate to the association strategic plan.
  • Provides reports to committees, the Board of Directors and the President/CEO.
  • Provides staff leadership to assigned committees of the Board of Directors.
  • Implements and oversees a program evaluation system to guarantee faithfulness to the Y’s cause, program outcomes and a high quality commitment to YMCA standards.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in human services, business or equivalent; Master’s degree preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Eight or more years of successful progressive leadership in the YMCA or similar experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in all aspects of operations, including staff supervision and development, successful membership practices, quality program development and implementation, volunteerism, facility and property management and sound financial practices.
  • Strong and successful fundraising, community relations and member development/retention experience.
  • Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community; track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others.
  • YMCA Organizational Leader certification preferred.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00
