Wounded Warrior Project’s (WWP) Peer Support Specialist / Trainer monitors the delivery of the peer support group leader and warrior leader training curriculums for Alumni, staff and other audiences. The primary function of this position is to coordinate and execute the training with the Alumni Teammates and the peer support group leaders.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop, plan and maintain all aspects of administrative, support and logistical aspects of peer support group leaders and alumni points of contacts.
- Coordinate and lead WWP Facilitator Training in support of Peer Facilitator Training events.
- Maintain, edit, and periodically update Warrior Leader / Peer Support Group training materials; develop new training materials as required and/or directed
- Subject matter expert for warrior leaders and peer support group facilitators
- Other related duties as assigned
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree required
Skills/Experience:
- Self-motivated, positive, outgoing, personable and able to relate well with diverse populations and age groups
- Experience in public speaking and training methods
- Able to take initiative, multi-task, work well under pressure, and complete required assignments in a timely fashion
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills; team player with the ability to communicate with diverse personalities; tactful, mature, and flexible
- High level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs, especially MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
- Experience in or knowledge of recovery from traumatic injury, illness, or combat stress
- Must be able to travel
Education & Experience Requirements
- Two (2) years planning, resourcing and executing training/instruction required
- Minimum one (1) year public speaking experience required
- Familiarity with military culture preferred
