Our Brandywine branch is part of this dynamic and progressive $40 million Y Association and is currently breaking ground for a new 20,000 square feet expansion bringing the total square footage of this branch to 75,000 s.f.   The new Senior Executive Director will have the unique opportunity to come in on the ground floor to complete this expansion and work with staff to develop new and exciting programs.

The Senior Executive Director is responsible for the overall operation of the Branch including, 25 full-time and 440 part-time employees, 5700 member units and a budget of $7.8 million.  This position will continue to develop and strengthen community wide relationships with donors, plus various service organizations.  The Senior Executive Director is also expected to aggressively support the YMCA of Delaware’s strategic goals.  Qualified applicants must have experience working with Boards, supervising government contracts, management of fund raising campaigns, strategic planning, staff leadership/development plus a proven record of successful fiscal management specifically in the areas of membership and program growth.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Establishes with the branch leadership team long range plans for the expansion of programs and services, in harmony with overall YMCA objectives. 
  • Provides staff leadership for the development, delivery and growth of the annual support campaign.  Must be able to recruit, train, and inspire volunteers to share the impact stories of our cause driven community work. 
  • Develops membership strategies that includes unit and revenue growth as well as member retention/engagement/loyalty. 
  • Accountable for growth and development of Branch Board of Management, committees, as well as community leaders, stakeholders, and advocates. 
  • Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area. 
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops and directs employees and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. 
  • Develops, manages, and monitors assigned operating budgets to meet or exceed targets. Recommends adjustments to the budget to assure a balanced operation and submits reports on current operations.
  • Develops and directs high quality member engagement strategies and programs which support branch and Association mission, goals, and strategies. Direct branch marketing and communication efforts. 
  • Serves as the branch leader for all Association wide Risk Management, HR, and Marketing initiatives and insures that all staff and volunteers are trained to insure that best practices are implemented. 
  • Ensure the maintenance of facilities and properties of the branch to assure high standards of maintenance, safety, cleanliness and to assure that the requirements of regulatory codes are fully met. 
  • Serves as a member of YMCA management team and supports the overall objectives of the organization. 
  • Engage with all members, participants, and parents to build strong relationship towards the advancement of the Y.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Five or more years of related experience in supervision, membership marketing, financial management, fundraising and community program development. 
  • Experience with computers including word processing and database software. 
  • Ability to direct the total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development. 
  • Ability to work effectively with people. 
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

Required Certifications

  • YMCA Senior Director experience and certification preferred.
Compensation/Benefits: 

$102,600.00 - $125,600.00
