NRDC seeks a Facilities & Workplace Wellness Manager to join our Sustainable Facilities Department in our LEED and Living Building Challenge-Certified Chicago office. This person will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Chicago office and will manage efforts related to workplace wellness across the organization. The ideal candidate will have excellent administrative and organizational skills, sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and be able to support consensus-based decisions with a flexible, innovative approach to resolving issues.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Creation and implementation of office procedures and policies
- Management of day to day operation of the office:
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of office equipment and furniture;
- Supervision of Reception and support staff;
- Mediation of office conflicts; management of office services; procurement of equipment and supplies;
- Selection of vendors and approval of payment due to vendors; processing, review and approval of invoices and travel reimbursement requests;
- Organization of office events and meetings, participation in, planning and managing institutional projects;
- Development and execution of annual administrative plan and budget and acting as liaison to other offices;
- Stay apprised of general workplace trends that may apply to NRDC;
- Make recommendations regarding health and wellness efforts that can be incorporated into the built environment of the offices and be implemented in day-to-day operations;
- Manage organization-wide initiatives related to workplace wellness;
- Manage biophilia and indoor air quality initiatives across the organization.
Educational Background:
College degree or equivalent in non-profit management, business administration, facilities management, sustainability management, CFM or SFP certification a plus,
Skills/Experience:
- Five to seven years of office management experience,
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service and organizational skills are required; timely completion and attention to detail are expected, as is the ability to make decisions and access situations with the “big picture” in mind,
- Must like to work collaboratively but be able to execute hands-on and independently,
- Must be able to assert functional leadership and influence and to communicate ideas, proposals and decisions in a professional manner,
- A proactive approach that is intuitive and able to anticipate circumstances,
- Ability to work accurately and with composure under deadline pressure,
- Must thrive in an environment where multiple activities are ongoing,
- Extensive knowledge with Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook;
- Highly trustworthy and able to treat confidential information sensitively,
- Interest in environmental advocacy is a plus,
- Knowledge of the health and wellness aspects of green building certifications such as LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL and Fitwel a plus
