Under the guidance of the Executive Director the Aquatics Director will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and implementation of the organization’s aquatic programs, with a primary focus of meeting the aquatic needs of the community. The Aquatics Director position includes, but is not limited to, developing relationships; ensuring proper monitoring, evaluating, and improving program delivery; hiring and training; establishing collaborative partners; marketing and promoting Y programs; and working collaboratively with colleagues to accomplish collective goals
The Salt Fork YMCA and the City of Marshall have committed to a long term partnership where the YMCA will manage the day to day operation of the city’s recently renovated out door aquatic center.
- Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Requites, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
- Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local, and YMCA health and safety regulations.
- Participate in rotation of Director on Duty shifts and serve in a lead or supporting role in Annual Campaign.
- Conducts in-service training for both lifeguards and swim instructors.
- Creates and schedules swim classes, water fitness classes, and oversees competitive swim team.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Must role mode YMCA core characters of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring in all aspects of job and relationships with staff, members, and program participants.
- Minimum of two years experience in pool operations, risk management procedures, supervising or directing programs as a program coordinator/director
- Current Lifeguard and swim instructor certification from either YMCA or the American Red Cross, including, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and O2 required and must be maintained and kept in current status. YMCA Lifeguard and Swim Instructor Certification is preferred.
- Must have the visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation; ability to adequately observe participant activities, enforce safety regulations, and apply appropriate policies and procedures; the physical ability to lead and interact in group activities and perform related physical skills.
- Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
Salary: $32,000.00 - $35,000.00
