The Director of Healthy Living provides leadership for branch healthy living programs and staff. The incumbent promotes programs to members and the community at large to meet established budget and revenue goals. The incumbent directs branch program operations ensuring the quality delivery of healthy living services which meets the branch and community needs. The incumbent is a member of the branch management team. The incumbent hires, supervises and trains staff.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Provides leadership and direction for a variety of branch healthy living programs (i.e. fitness, aquatics, ForeverWell, chronic diseases, etc.). Promotes, sells and educates staff, members and community participants on the benefits of participating in key healthy living programs to maximize revenue potential and increase member retention.
- Manages a high performing staff and ensuring the quality delivery of programs and services provided. Works closely with the Product Management team on innovative approaches and implements programs, evaluate program results, establish areas for improvement and develop and implement plans to achieve desired goals and objectives.
- Prepares and manages the healthy living program budgets to assure revenue and program service goals are achieved.
- Recruits, hires, on-boards, trains, develop and supervise healthy living staff.
- Ensures a high level of customer service which enhances the member, guest and program participant experience and satisfaction.
- Serves as a member of the branch management team performing specific duties which support the overall success of branch operations.
Educational Background:
Degree in Health, Science and Recreation or related field.
Skills/Experience:
Required
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in Healthy Living programs (fitness, aquatics, ForeverWell, chronic disease, etc.)
- Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience
- Proven management ability in budget and financial control and staff management and development
- Demonstrated success promoting and selling programs and activities
- Ability to work in highly flexible and rapidly changing work environment
- Ability to maintain up to date knowledge of healthy living programs to include fitness, aquatics, and health and wellness trends.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with various groups to achieve a desired end result
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- CPR/PR, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen certifications (within 30 days of hire)
- Ability to attend and complete YMCA Healthy Lifestyles Principles within 90 days of hire
- Ability to manage programs to a diverse population
Preferred
- Possess a current accredited and nationally recognized certification in one or more of the following areas Personal Training, Lifeguard, Land or Water Group Exercise, Swim Instructor or Pilates Reformer.
