Teach For America (TFA) Twin Cities is seeking a Development Coordinator (DC).  The Development Coordinator is directly responsible for supporting ongoing fundraising operations; creating compelling donor communications, proposals and reports; and maximizing the efficiency of the External Affairs and Development team through process improvement and systems management.

The DC will report directly to the Managing Director of External Affairs and Development (MD) for Twin Cities region and will work closely with the MD, the Assistant to the Executive Director, and Alumni Affairs Coordinator. The DC will support planning and execution of individual giving campaigns, major institutional funding proposals, and donor stewardship. The DC will craft thoughtful, targeted communications, including grant proposals, reports, social media posts, mail campaigns, and emails. As a member of the External Affairs and Development team, the DC will not only work to raise funds to support our corps member and alumni programming, but will also collaborate with the MD and regional team to develop success stories to share with external stakeholders in a compelling and responsible way. The DC will leverage operational excellence to advance the impact of the External Affairs and Development team.  

This position is critical to ensuring that necessary infrastructure and systems are in place to foster an engaging culture of philanthropy within the organization. This role has significant opportunities for professional growth and development through project management and collaboration with team leadership. We are seeking a candidate that is a strong and sophisticated communicator, highly organized, and experienced at implementing systems to increase efficiency. Ideal candidate for this position will also have demonstrated experience collaborating effectively with others and operating with a spirit of generosity and flexibility.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Development Operations (50%)

  • Consistently execute on TFA’s donor acknowledgement and gift processing protocols to make sure all donors feel recognized and comply with IRS guidelines
  • Support the MD by creating meeting preparation documents and conducting donor research
  • Develop expertise in Salesforce, Pardot, and other systems, as needed
  • Use TFACT (TFA’s development tracking system) to manage and track TFA’s weighted revenue pipeline
  • Work closely with Assistant to the Executive Director make sure Executive Director’s external affairs and major donor priorities are aligned with the team and properly recorded in TFACT

Communications and Donor Engagement (40%)

  • Draft and edit grant proposals and reports which accurately reflect TFA’s impact and responsibly share unique stories of TFA’s students, corps members, and community impact
  • Work with the MD, the region’s communications partner, and other staff to create and execute on the development components of a cohesive regional communications plan
  • Create targeted donor communications to make all stakeholders feel valued, updated, and included in TFA’s work
  • Create and maintain up-to-date program and organization collateral that can be shared with external partners and stakeholders

Collective Responsibilities (10%)

  •  Advance TFA’s mission by participating in recruitment and selection for corps members and mobilizing alumni and community leaders to strengthen the movement for educational equity
  • Support Twin Cities regional operations by executing regional responsibilities such as ensuring compliance with TFA human capital, finance, and data management policies and procedures and contributing to regional and national meetings and events
  •  Advance team culture and sense of community by operating within TFA's Core Values and commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusiveness
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required
Skills/Experience: 

Prior Experience

  • 1-3 years of work relevant experience in project management, operations, research, and/or communications required; previous experience in development preferred but not required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and Google Docs required
  • Experience with Teach For America or similarly situated education, leadership development, teacher preparation, and/or youth development organization preferred but not required.

  • Familiarity with Salesforce or other development software and/or digital communication platforms including social media and mass email software preferred but not required
