The Soil Science Program Coordinator will support grant, project and program management, and help execute communications campaigns, marketing and development plans to achieve the goals of the Global Land’s Soil Science program, with much of the effort dedicated to the Soil4Climate Initiative. S/he reports to the Lead Soil Scientist. The Soil4Climate initiative will develop soil carbon science, translate it into action and engage governments, businesses and landowners in elevating soil as a key climate solution. S/he will also support efforts to incorporate the best available soil science knowledge and soil health principles and approaches into Shared Conservation Agenda strategies including through active knowledge exchange activities.
This position is part-time, up to 22 hours/week and would be able to flex up or down based on needs
The Coordinator assists the Soil Science Program with the development, implementation and management of their conservation plans and strategies. S/he develops key topical understanding and works to develop and collaborate with a network of TNC field colleagues to support the adoption of key science based knowledge throughout our organization.
- S/he will support large grants and their corresponding work streams, building connections across various projects and ensuring that all work products are integrated and completed on time and within grant parameters.
- The coordinator will manage project contracts, and be responsible for ensuring that projects, grants, and contracts meet internal procedural requirements including legal review, risk assessment, financial management, and internal policies.
- S/he will liaise with communication teams and free lancers to deliver on communications campaign objectives, and may produce program materials and communications products, including website copy, social media content, fact sheets, presentations, and other materials.
- S/he will support the development of new grant proposals through project management, coordination with various pieces of proposal, and writing.
- S/he may manage donor stewardship and may coordinate with relationship managers and team members to develop donor stewardship materials, as needed.
- S/he may work with TNC staff in other regions to align messaging and leverage opportunities to promote soil science and soil management as a conservation strategy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination.
- Experience supporting complex projects and strategic initiatives in an unstructured environment.
- Analytical and project management experience.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to build relationships and lead projects with diverse, dispersed teams
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Self-starter with ability to generate work plans with limited support in line with the overall conservation strategies.
- Experience contributing to business plans or major strategy assessments.
- Multi-cultural or cross cultural experience and multi-lingual skills with fluency in a language other than English (e.g. Spanish, French) appreciated.
- Willingness to learn and develop expertise in new conservation strategies, economic drivers, management tools, and global affairs.
- Strong team player who can build relationships and work collaboratively across the organization and with partners.
