The Healthy Living Sports Program Coordinator under the direction of the Director of Healthy Living, provides supervision and coordination of all sports staff, referees and volunteer coaches.  The Sports Program Coordinator coordinates delivery and quality implementation of Youth and Adult sports programs, facilitates the development of team athletics, foster sportsmanship and teamwork under a healthy competitive umbrella, maintain the quality of the sports programs and increase the number of participants served.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Ensures and builds program enrollment, partnerships with local school districts and other referral partners to ensure all financial outcomes are met and the program is financially sustainable.
  • Works in conjunction with Dir. Of Healthy Living to develop and deliver program data dashboard, outcomes and outputs.
  • Ensure all staff and volunteers are trained and aware of all program schedules and protocols.
  • Maintain proper communication with director when searching/offering to substitute any class. If for any reason a sub is needed, it is the instructor’s responsibility to find a substitute.
  • In coordination with Dir. Of Healthy Living, develops and administers a West Cook YMCA sports program manual for all staff and volunteers.
  • Provides timely staff schedules for all sports programs and planned events and ensures effective team communication.
  • Responsible for working with Marketing and communication to ensure all relevant program details are being effectively promoted and communicated to intended audiences.
  • Responds to all Sports Program injuries and assist in immediate first aid and proper emergency response.
  • Provide support to Healthy Living Director, Healthy Living Fitness Program Coordinator and Chronic Disease Program Coordinator for Y Without Walls (YWOW) programming, i.e. DPP, HCI, Workplace Wellness, etc., special events, and other projects and duties as needed and assigned.
  • Is a member of the Healthy Living team and will attend all team or department meetings and ensure completion of any activities and follow-ups attend workshops, and in-services.
  • Maintain and keep the sports areas and equipment organized, clean, and inviting.  Places requests for supplies to the Dir. Of Healthy Living.
  • Knows, enforces and ensures that all procedures and procedures are being adhered to.
  • Maintain and contribute to a professional and team atmosphere.
  • Ensures that all sports events, schedule changes and activities through are effectively communicated to all that would need to be informed i.e. Membership Engagement, Facilities, etc.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Park Administration or related subject.
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum of two years’ experience as athletic director, program director or superintendent.
  • Strong time and project management skills.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of various team and individual sports, standards, practices, regulations and safety protocols.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $35,000.00
