The Vice President of Mission Impact provides vision, leadership and hands-on support for YMCA Blue Ridge’s overall programmatic impact. This position will work in close collaboration with staff colleagues, conference partners and volunteer leaders to develop and drive overall strategy, make key decisions and provide hands-on support to elevate the Assembly’s work.
The VP of Mission Impact serves as a highly engaged and productive member of the CEO’s Strategic Team and is a key contributor to the overall achievement of the Assembly’s strategic vision. Additionally, this role provides leadership and direction to the mission impact team, consisting of 6 full-time professionals. This position will ensure that the work of the mission impact departments are integrated, supported and highly effective. The VP will evaluate and increase the quality of programs offered by YMCA Blue Ridge. The senior leader will develop, manage and monitor the mission impact operating budget and meet or exceed budget targets.
Expand and enhance the Assembly’s impact as a catalytic leader and expert resource in the areas of Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.YMCA Blue Ridge is committed to being an important resource and expert partner in helping local YMCAs and other nonprofits fulfill their mission and deepen their impact in the areas of Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. Over the past five years much progress has been made in establishing foundational programs and conferences through Centers of Excellence (CoE) in each of the three areas. To build upon this progress, the VP of Mission Impact will:
- Serve as conference director and provide visionary and strategic leadership to deepen the impact of the following conferences: Youth Development Summit, Christian Leadership Conference, LiveSTRONG and Global Leadership Summit
- Expand the Service Learning initiative.
- Serve as a consultant to partner YMCAs resulting in an expansion and growth of BOLD/GOLD programs.
- Annually secure funds to support and expand the work of the three CoEs and the Annual Campaign.
- Build and maintain relationships with content specialists which will enable YMCA Blue Ridge to develop and distribute information and resources, identify and advocate best practices, and model programs in the areas of Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.
- Serve as liaison to key stakeholder conferences, strengthen relationships, and increase both participation and utilization of these groups/organizations at YMCA Blue Ridge.
Expand upon the quality, impact and variety of program services available to conference attendees. The Assembly offers a variety of venues and activities that add value to the conference experience. Conference leaders and attendees are given the option of including these in their conference agenda for an additional cost. The VP of Mission Impact will:
- Increase the quality of existing activities.
- Work closely with Group Sales and Engagement and Event Coordinators to expand the number of conferences and conferees who utilize program services.
- Create new venues and activities.
- Work closely with team leaders to ensure staff engages in professional and personal development focused on their values and achieving the goals of YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly. This leader will have an active role in cultivating and supporting a strong, positive organization culture.
- A minimum of 8 years of commensurate experience, preferably in the YMCA.
- Solid business management and financial skills with demonstrated record of meeting and/or exceeding multi-year financial targets and program targets.
- Demonstrated experience working in a highly collaborative environment where teamwork, collegiality and self-motivation are necessary for success. Must exhibit excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and personal values consistent with the YMCA mission and cause.
- Possess the ability to develop new programs and review and enhance existing programs currently being offered as to their financial feasibility and effectiveness in broadening the engagement in the constituents served. Proven success in strategy development and implementation.
- Strong persuasive skills to serve as an ambassador for the vision, programs and processes of the Assembly. Must be willing to travel to meet with local Ys, other organizations/leaders, and attend conferences relevant to YMCA Blue Ridge.
- Background in conference leadership/design or hospitality management preferred, demonstrating proficiency and experience in customer service with high standards of timeliness and responsiveness.
- Direct experience leading and supporting policy and program volunteers.
- Fundraising experience including annual campaigns. Experience in securing grants preferred.
- Knowledge of YUSA’s strategic intent and tactical approach to core areas of Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility
- Ability to manage and accomplish multiple projects and work assignments with little supervision.
- Successful track record of budgetary and fiscal management in excess of $250,000.
