The Membership Director is responsible for the administration and supervision of the Welcome Center team. This leader ensures all membership inquiries (phone, email, in person) are handled, trains and oversees all associates who handle membership inquiries, and establishes and leads a culture of excellent member service throughout the branch.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develops and directs high quality member engagement strategies and programs which support branch and Association goals, and strategies. Endures the execution of the association membership marketing plan to include social media.
- Lead member involvement and relationship building strategies to increase participation, enrollment, and volunteerism.
- Acts as the Assistant Campaign Director and directs the community gifts phase of the annual campaign.
- Develops, maintains and prepares reports for staff, committees and the Branch Board.
- Coordinates strategies for Member Engagement, Member Retention.
- Staff Development: Hire, supervise, train and evaluate staff teams.
- Financial Development: Provide leadership to staff and volunteers in the YMCAs Annual Campaign. Assist with all other fundraising activities and goals.
- Risk Management: Ensure the safety of members and staff. Report any areas needing attention immediately to proper department.
- Schedule: Ability to work evenings as needed to best serve the membership and lead programming.
Educational Background:
A successful person will have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
Skills/Experience:
- Experience in management with direct supervision of multiple levels of a diversified workforce.
- Experience developing staff, fund raising, program planning and innovation, budget development and management of fiscal control systems.
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and personal values consistent with the YMCA mission.
- Proven customer service, sales and marketing experience preferably in a membership setting.
- Proven track record with selling a product or service and meeting or exceeding sales goals.
- Able to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- Ability to problem solve and demonstrate sound judgment.
