The AARP Data Analytics and Performance Management group is looking for a strong graduate student to join the Advanced Analytics team as a summer intern, focusing on digital analytics. Our ideal candidate has experience working with web analytics, social media listening, and social media analytics platforms.  In addition, our ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, is able to communicate well, interpret results to a non-technical audience, and has experience writing SQL queries.  Join AARP this summer for an exciting and rewarding internship with our Data Analytics and Performance Management team.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Responsibilities will include and are not limited to the following:

  • Leveraging big data to set up reporting on aarp.org initiatives
  • Understanding how aarp.org processes generate raw Adobe data
  • Setting up dashboards within data visualization tools such as Tableau
  • Performing data validation and cleansing.
Educational Background: 
Interns must be currently enrolled in a degreed graduate program at an accredited college or university and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers.
This may include those who have previously graduated college and are now enrolled in a continuing education program.
Skills/Experience: 

The successful candidate must possess the following:

  • Experience working with or interest in web analytics, social media listening, and social media analytics platforms;
  • Working knowledge of SQL;
  • Experience in programming applied statistics or data science are preferred.
  • Experience working with or interest in data visualization tools and creative ways to display information;
  • Strong Microsoft Excel experience;
  • Experience drawing insights and conclusions from data;
  • An attention to detail;
  • The ability to work effectively and proactively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team with a sense of humor and positive attitude;
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills;
  • Passion for innovation, digital experience and technology;
  • Intellectual curiosity and a love for thinking differently and challenging the status quo;
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
