This position will enable the right individual to stretch their abilities and grow themselves and programs exponentially.  Candidates should have prior leadership experience organizing/developing recreational activities in a culturally diverse environment and be able to successfully recruit and retain participants for preschool, youth, family, sports and summer day camp programs.  Strong ability to screen, hire, train and mentor staff and resources is essential.  Candidates will administer all aspects of the program experience; including facilities, maintaining supplies, developing staff and class schedules, rosters, communication.  The leader to fill this position will build relationships with community leaders, members of all ages, volunteers and YMCA staff and will lead by example.  Our Association is located in Delaware County, PA, which has easy access to Philadelphia, NJ shore points and the Pocono’s.  12% retirement, health & dental insurance, and liberal vacation. Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill CYEDC objectives.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed.  Reviews and evaluates staff performance.  Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Works closely with the Branch Director and management staff to ensure effective communication and operations of all programs.
  • Adheres to the policies and procedures established by the management staff and CYEDC Board of Directors.
  • Attends clinics, workshops, trainings and meetings as required.
  • Maintains accurate records for all programs.
  • Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
  • Develops and monitors programs budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
  • Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
  • Models relationship building skills in all interactions.  Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  • Assists with Program Committee meetings.
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Any other duties deemed necessary to ensure the success of the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 1-2 years related experience preferred.
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Certifications: American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED, and First Aid within 15 days of hire.
  • Completion of required trainings.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Basic computer and mathematical skills for program development, management and appraisal.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
