Vice President, Digital Products

The VP will lead a practical, results-driven and customer-focused team with a mature approach to building and delivering great digital software products. This integrated product development organization consists of product management, software development, design and UX, and web operations. The VP ensures that this products organization delivers for its primary business stakeholders while operating within an Agile framework. The team works with a variety of stakeholders, business leaders, and customers to develop digital products that best meet the business needs.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Leadership. Responsible for building, leading and managing a best in class digital product team. (20%)
  • Product management. Responsible for defining, building, delivering and iterating on products that meet business owner’s goals and for guiding the engineering team to make investment and divestment decisions. (20%)
  • Software Development. Dedicated on- and off-site software development resources work closely with the product managers to deliver new and maintain or upgrade existing products. (15%)
  • Design and User Experience. Leads Design and User Experience (UX) for the NGS digital products. (15%)
  • Product Planning and Roadmap. Collaborate closely with stakeholders and others both inside and outside the organization to develop product roadmap. Stay informed of industry best practices to ensure NGS is a leader in digital products. (10%)
  • Product Optimization. Ensures all products are informed by insights and optimized for performance along with overall success. (10%)
  • Budget. Responsible for overseeing budget for Product Development team. (10%)
Educational Background: 
BA/BS (ideally in Computer Science or Computer Engineering) required, advanced degree preferred.
Skills/Experience: 

Minimum Years and Type of Experience

  • 8+ years of product management experience building enterprise-grade software, either in a hands on product management role, software engineering role or in a role with product/software development management responsibility leading an integrated product development organization. At least 5 or more years of management experience. Related experience will be considered.

 Knowledge and Skills Required

  • A proven VP of Digital Products, with a strong background in both product management and software development. Someone who thrives at the intersection of business and technology and speaks both the language of business as expressed through product management and the language of technology as expressed through software engineering.
  • A track record of building and going to market with successful products (and likely a few misses too).
  • A results oriented team leader with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Technical depth that lets you understand and earn the respect of world-class engineers.
  • Experience working with business owners to develop a deep understanding of customer needs.
  • Exceptional skill at clear, concise, and compelling communication.
  • Strong analytical background to seek data-driven rigor in decision-making.
  • Ability to deliver products on time and on budget
  • Pro-active self-starter with a “can do” approach to problem solving
  • Follows industry trends, benchmarks, best practices, etc. to ensure we’re ahead of the curve

 Supervision

  •  4 to 6 staff members
