The Program Development and Management intern will work with the Awards Management team within the Department of Education and Child Protection to support donor funded projects across the globe. Through the tasks performed the intern will gain a better understanding of the importance of strong project management and how it contributes to international development project success and tools and best practices for effective project management.

The intern will help the award management team meet donor requirements contributing to project success and future funding opportunities. Helping to put trackers and checklists in place will help the project more effectively and efficiently implement project activities.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Makes routine decisions around day to day execution of job.
  • Organizes self and manages time to get things done.
  • Judgment is restricted to following established policies, procedures and processes for routine tasks.
  • Requires supervision to review work progress and results.
  • Keeps manager informed of important issues. Builds effective relationships within their immediate or peer workgroup.
  • Conduct file audit of project records to ensure they are complete, correct and compliant
  • Support writing of “memos to file” for missing documents, project events etc.
  • Support development trackers, checklists etc. to help staff manage tasks, track deliverables etc.
  • Support up-dating of budgets, pipelines etc.
  • Get project deliverables ready for publication on the Development Experience Clearinghouse (DEC) through review, editing and formatting of documents
  • Other duties as assigned
Educational Background: 
Pursuing Bachelors or Master’ degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 1-2 years’ work experience in an office environment preferred
  • Experience managing office administrative tasks preferred
  • Experience working with EXCEL and budgets a plus
  • Requires learned knowledge, technical/functional skills and attention to detail to support a variety of routine tasks requiring some degree of difficulty.
  • Keeps manager informed of important issues.
  • Builds effective relationships within their immediate or peer workgroup.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must be eligible to intern or volunteer in the U.S.
  • To be classified as an intern: an individual must be enrolled in a relevant undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate academic program and able to receive some level of credit from his/her college or institution. (Minimum requirement is a letter of support and documentation is required only after an internship is offered.)
  • Any individual who is not a student or able to receive credit may apply for an internship, but will be classified as a skilled volunteer, not as an intern.
