The IDELA Communications Intern is a role for a driven individual interested in the intersection of research, international partnerships, and communications. The intern will help implement a new communications strategy that works to engage, grow, and inspire a broad international community. The intern should have a keen interest in connecting with new audiences through social media, editing and organizing media content, and supporting internal knowledge management systems.
IDELA is Save the Children’s International Development and Early Learning Assessment, a global tool that measures children’s early learning and development. IDELA provides ECCD programs, donors, and government partners with evidence on the status of children aged 3.5 to 6 years. IDELA is now used by more than 50 organizations in 59 countries and continues to grow each month. In September 2017, Save the Children launched an IDELA Portal to share the IDELA tool with a wider audience and serve as a leading international hub for child development research.
- Social Media Development– Support the implementation of the IDELA social media strategy; Grow social media reach across multiple platforms; Suggest changes or future ideas for social media growth.
- Content and Media- New content, video and photos files for the IDELA website come from a variety of staff working in various countries. The intern will support editing photos for specific needs and organizing photos for future use in compliance with Save the Children’s media and child safeguarding policies. This work may also involve copy editing content prior to its publication on the site.
- Knowledge Management Systems – The IDELA team maintains internal tracking systems and libraries to manage IDELA content. The intern will support the ongoing effort to improve the libraries’ content organization and tagging.
- Other projects– may include support for IDELA events, development of new communications materials, or other related tasks as needed.
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in the field of Early Childhood Development or international education
- Ability to work independently and prioritize projects within a varied workload
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Successful experience supporting social media development for a project, organization, or team
- Photo and video editing experience preferred
- Familiarity with WordPress and SharePoint based sites
- Possess strong written skills, solid interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
