Spring WASH in Emergencies Fellow

In the immediate aftermath of a disaster or conflict, and throughout the transition from emergency response to recovery and sustainable development, Save the Children’s presence in 120 countries facilitates the rapid delivery of evidence-based and innovative health and nutrition interventions that address the major causes of illness and death among the world’s most vulnerable populations, including adolescents. The Emergency Health and Nutrition (EHN) team’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) portfolio addresses critical life-saving measures through a variety of approaches and methodologies, providing essential WASH services among crisis-affected populations globally. The Integrated WASH in Emergencies fellow will support the WASH senior specialist to assist in the development of impact and monitoring tools for WASH programming, and support proposal opportunities in lead WASH countries.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Support work on an impact tool, to be used in integrated WASH programming in humanitarian, transitional, and long-term WASH activities;
  • Develop a guideline booklet to be used by country teams to monitor and evaluate integrated WASH programming
  • Develop overview papers on action plans for key integrated WASH countries, to strengthen programming work at the country level
  • Provide administrative and research support to funding strategies for global and country-level integrated WASH programming
  • Assist with planning, coordination, and logistics tasks related to WASH trainings, as well as other administration tasks as needed.
Educational Background: 
Must be an actively enrolled graduate or post-graduate student or have graduated within 6 months of start date
Skills/Experience: 
  • Demonstrated interest in public health and WASH
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, solid interpersonal skills, detail-oriented, ability to work within a team
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Preferred, but not required, experience in monitoring and evaluation activities
  • Currently eligible to work in the U.S.
