The Department of Portfolio Growth & Performance (PGP) Intern assists the team in creating and amplifying our USG proposal development and knowledge management tools, resources, and learning materials. The position provides both knowledge management and technical support to the New Business Development (NBD) team and plays an important role in assisting with the development of departmental initiatives. The intern will be provided with introductions to SCUS USG proposal development as well as trainings and mentorship into the more nuanced aspects of the process. The intern will gain skills and experience in the USAID proposal development process and will be exposed broadly to the work of an international development non-profit organization.
Knowledge Management and Learning (45%):
- Support the New Business Development Learning Program and strategy through activities such as content cataloguing and tracking.
- Support approaches to evaluate aspects of the New Business Development Learning Program.
- Assist in the creation of communications documents and marketing tools and templates.
- Support NBD learning and training initiatives for staff based in headquarters and country offices.
- Assist with inventory and maintenance of internal and intranet-based file libraries.
Technical Support (40%):
- Update and maintain online databases to track donor and partner information in the countries where Save the Children works.
- Support the creation of tools and templates to evaluate and develop lessons learned from proposal management processes to improve cross-team collaboration and performance.
- Provide proposal management support as needed (researching, attending and capturing notes in relevant meetings, etc.).
Learning and Professional Development (15%):
- Weekly touch-base with supervisor to discuss internship goals, project timelines, progress, and determine other informational interviews, projects, etc. that would be conducive to continuing intern development.
- Create objectives for internship and measure progress against them.
- Attend various learning opportunities offered through the SCUS Intern, Fellow Program, as well as directly with the PGP team.
- Possess strong written skills, solid interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and ensure timely completion of assignments.
- Currently eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in fields related to communications, marketing, or international development.
- Experience in data management and visualization.
- Experience working in SharePoint.
- Communications and marketing experience.
- Knowledge and/or experience with new business development, US Government funding mechanisms, and international development.
