In 2017 the Save the Children Movement adopted a Gender Equality Policy positing that a focus on gender equality is fundamental for achieving our vision for all children. The policy applies across our entire organization, to our work in both humanitarian and development contexts, globally and domestically, and across all levels, teams and departments.
In 2019, Save the Children US (SCUS) launched an agency-wide Gender Equality Strategy for 2019-2021 that takes a cohesive and coordinated approach to advancing gender equality & social inclusion within and through Save the Children. This includes incorporating a gender equality lens in all our work (within organization and programs) both as a human right and an end in itself, as well as a means to overcome poverty and injustice.
The spring 2020 Gender Equality Fellow will work with the Associate Vice President, Gender Equality and broader Gender Equality Hub to support the implementation of the Gender Equality Strategy. The Gender Equality Hub, a cross-divisional, cross-functional group, oversees the development and implementation of the Gender Equality Strategy to ensure that our agency takes the necessary steps to be an organization which lives and breathes its gender equality principles.
