The Senior Grants Manager, Monitoring and Compliance, oversees AARP Foundation’s government grants portfolio, with specific emphasis on grants from Department of Justice, Corporation for National and Community Service, Department of Agriculture and internal review of grants from IRS and Department of Labor. The Senior Grants Manager is the subject matter expert for all government grant regulations and guidelines across the enterprise and leads the development of policies and procedures related to Federal grant regulations. The position requires a deep understanding of 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance. In addition, the position manages a portfolio of private grants, and works to ensure proper compliance with private grants received by AARP Foundation.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Ensures proper compliance met for all government and private grants.
  • Primary interpreter and subject matter expert of 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance, government grant terms and conditions and related regulations.
  • Develops and implements compliance policies and procedures.
  • Oversees field and desk compliance audits.
  • Assists with grant opportunity identification and application.
  • Project lead for portfolio of government grants.
  • Monitor and compliance lead for portfolio of private grants.
  • Develops and leads training for all staff involved with government grants.
  • Coordinate and oversee the launch of new awards in collaboration with development, finance and program staff.
  • Ensure all sub-grant agreements are developed according to donor requirements and policies and procedures.
  • Administers disaster relief grantmaking.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Policy, Public Health or other relevant area a plus.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Must have eight years of experience in the nonprofit sector with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Experience working across departments within an organization.
  • Ability to effectively participate in cross-functional teams to meet business objectives and influence co-workers and business partners.
  • Familiarity with 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance.
  • Knowledge of government-funded program compliance requirements, including grants by Corporation for National Community Service and/or Department of Justice preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including public speaking, report writing, and developing and delivering trainings for a variety of audiences.
  • Proven ability to meet multiple deadlines, balance numerous projects, and work independently.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Commitment to diversity, cultural sensitivity, and community service.
  • Creativity, flexibility, a proactive problem-solving approach, and strong relationship-building skills are essential to this position
