The research intern will serve as a research assistant to the Principal Economist for a project to build an evidence gap map. The research will include systematic searching and screening of academic articles, reading and coding information from articles, creating tables and graphs, writing sections of papers, and preparing PowerPoint presentations. Research tasks will also include writing article summaries. The intern will occasionally communicate with researchers both inside of and outside of the company in person, by phone, and over email. Candidates should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree (preferred) with an emphasis in quantitative social science analysis and should be familiar with experimental and quasi-experimental methods of impact evaluation. This is a four-month internship from September through December 2019.
- Works on problems of moderate scope that require analysis and evaluation of identifiable factors and interpretation of the situation.
- Exercises judgment within defined and existing practices to determine specific work methods for obtaining results.

- Close supervision involving detailed instructions and frequent monitoring of work performance.
- Contacts are primarily within immediate work unit.
- Contacts involve obtaining or providing information requiring little explanation or interpretation
- Contributes to business and departmental functions to achieve goals and acquire work experience.
- Receives general instructions on assignments and work is reviewed for accuracy and completion.
- Typically reports to a Manager.
- Research experience including data analysis and analytical writing.
- Must have completed coursework or professional experience in impact evaluation methods and the application of impact evaluation evidence.
- Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with outside research professionals and staff.
- Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
- Experience with Endnote and Covidence (or similar programs) is a plus.
- Demonstrates advanced skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Reviews data and information for completeness and accuracy using standard guidelines; performs tasks with attention to detail.
- Uses basic office software programs, information systems, and office equipment to access, input, and verify standard information.
- Communicates information clearly to staff, clients, and/or public about services, processes, and procedures using prescribed or established guidelines.
- Gathers readily available information from office records to drafts e-mails, memos and other documents.
- Proofreads documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and basic formatting.
- Records and documents information accurately.
