RANA Technical Support Intern, Global Education

The Reading and Numeracy Activity (RANA) is an education program for primary education in northwest Nigeria. This internship will focus on supporting RANA to expand its work in upper primary education in Hausa. The internship will focus primarily on curriculum and materials development.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide a summary of recommended practices in upper primary education for the Nigerian context
  • Review of available materials for upper primary education (with translation assistance)
  • Review of national curriculum for upper primary in Hausa (translation assistance may be provided)
  • Support development of a scope and sequence for upper primary Hausa education
  • Draft lesson templates for upper primary Hausa education
  • Provide recommendations for monitoring and evaluation of upper primary education programming
  • Provide support to the RANA communications team on an as needed basis
  • Perform other tasks as required
Educational Background: 
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in education or a relevant field required. Candidates currently enrolled in, or having recently completed graduate-level programs in education are preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience in curriculum design and materials development required
  • Familiarity with the Nigerian or West African context strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of fundamental concepts of teaching of literacy or language preferred
  • Experience teaching at the upper primary level preferred
  • Experience with research, monitoring and evaluation preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English required, including experience and competency in editing and formatting
  • Proficiency with basic Microsoft tools such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint required
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, to be flexible and collaborative
