The AARP State Health and Family Team seeks a part-time intern to assist with work related to the Association’s state level government affairs activities, primarily on caregiving, and long-term care, and other health related issues. The intern will conduct research on relevant issues, perform communications functions, and assist in organizing and archiving materials. The intern may design a flexible schedule around classes, with a commitment of 20 to 25 hours a week. The internship has a predicted start date of May/May 2019 and will last through December, 2019.
- Working directly with AARP advocates and lobbyists, intern will help staff develop, manage, and communicate about AARP priority issues, particularly health care and caregiving.
- Intern will conduct research, compile information, and develop recommendations and material on advocacy issues; develop and manage content for internal staff online sites; meet with internal stakeholders, outside organizations and thought leaders with similar interests to AARP; and prepare material for internal and external communications.
- AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers.
- This may include those who have previously graduated college and are now enrolled in a continuing education program.
