AARP’s Information Technology Services (ITS) Group oversees technology initiatives and information systems that support AARP’s ability to deliver our mission. Our Communications Intern will support internal communications campaigns and external technology-focused efforts and will be able to engage at various levels of the communication process.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Support IT staff in developing engaging content around focus areas such as technology innovation, information security, digital transformation, and technology events;
- Work with graphic design team, communications team and IT subject matter experts to identify strategies to best communicate departmental objectives and accomplishments;
- Writing, proof-reading, publishing and fact-checking;
- Support efforts to enhance Social Media communications from internal thought-leaders.
Educational Background:
Interns must be currently enrolled in a degreed program at an accredited college or university; maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0;
Be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors who have a demonstrated interest in technology, communications or journalism.
Skills/Experience:
AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers. This may include those who have previously graduated college and are now enrolled in a continuing education program. Our successful candidate must comfortably demonstrate the following:
- Strong writien and oral communications and editing skills;
- Capable of developing effective PowerPoint presentations;
- Must be a self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast-moving atmosphere without a lot of oversight;
- Keen attention to detail;
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree in your junior or senior year, with demonstrated interest in technology, communications or journalism.
