The Strategic Management team (subset of the Strategy & Innovation team) is seeking a graduate-level intern (ideally full-time but negotiable) to help drive FHI 360’s Business Intelligence, Market Research and Corporate Strategy implementation efforts. Under close supervision, the intern will perform entry to mid-level professional duties that provide professional growth and practical experience through market research on key international development trends, organizational strategic planning, performance management and collaborative critical thinking with the team. The S&I team is looking for a driven, strategic thinker who enjoys problem-solving, “thinking outside the box”, and is naturally curious. Duties may include qualitative and quantitative data gathering and analysis; preparing reports and presentations; accompanying employees on assignments; and interfacing with key stakeholders. Assignments serve to offer practical experience and broad exposure to the landscape of international development and the organizational structure of a leading INGO.

End of June – end of September with possibility of extension till end of December 2019

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Supports the development of dashboards, applying data visualization best practices using business intelligence platform Power BI
  • Conducts market research, quantitative and qualitative analysis on specific topics upon need/request
  • Synthesizes and organizes information or data into reports, concept notes and/or PowerPoint presentations for an executive or leadership audience
  • Creates frameworks for analysis; researches and applies best practices; informs leadership’s strategic thinking and decision-making via analysis and artifacts  
  • Supports advancement of internal administrative systems, organizational structures, policies and procedures via research, analysis and critical/systems thinking
  • Collaborates with S&I team and other stakeholders, as needed, to advance team objectives

Supervision

  • Has no supervisory responsibility
  • Reports directly to an Associate and indirectly to an Associate Director
  • Receives general instructions on assignments and work is reviewed for accuracy and completion
Educational Background: 
Candidates pursuing a graduate level degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • Interns who have a foundational understanding of the international development industry and/or have a management consulting or strategy background preferred
  • Requires intern to have at least 1 year of graduate-level experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Proficiency and experience in business intelligence software (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) preferred
  • Articulate professional who can communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff
  • Preliminary experience with organization performance management a plus
  • Knowledge and experience with systems thinking a plus
  • Ability to speak a foreign language is a plus
