The Financial Security & Consumer Affairs team within State Advocacy and Strategy Integration (SASI) Government Affairs seeks a graduate level Government Affairs Intern II to assist with research, writing and tasks in support of the work of the members of the SASI Financial Security team. The duration of this internship will be May, 2019 - December, 2019.
Primary tasks include policy analysis, drafting articles, producing reports and written documents, including producing content for the weekly departmental newsletter (SASI News) and other visual/social media materials for use (PowerPoint, news clips, tweets, etc.) by the team.
Interns also perform research and policy analysis on short and long-term projects. Interns play an important role in preparing state advocacy materials for use by GA and AARP’s 53 state offices, including, but not limited to: creating fact sheets for state office use, drafting and editing PowerPoint presentations, tracking news articles and legislative and regulatory actions, organizing and updating shared advocacy guidance and materials made available to state offices within the SASI Library, culling key data and statistics from research, and working on deadline.
- AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers. This may include those who have previously graduated college and are now enrolled in a continuing education program.
Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
