The Gender Equality Fellow will work with the Associate Vice President, Gender Equality and the members of the SCUS’ Gender Equality Hub. The Gender Equality Hub, a cross-divisional, cross-functional group, oversees the development and implementation of the Gender Equality Strategy to ensure that SCUS takes the necessary steps to be an organization which lives and breathes its gender equality principles.

The Summer 2019 Gender Equality Fellow will work with the US Domestic Programs group in conducting a gender analysis of existing programs to understand how gender equality considerations are integrated at each stage of program design and implementation. The fellow will work with qualitative and quantitative data from existing research to understand gendered impacts of SCUS domestic programs on children and their families. 

Areas of Responsibility: 

Gender Equality Fellow is selected based on the following values and core competencies:

  • Seeks gender equality: Reflects on how your own culture shapes your definition of gender disparity. Believes that improving gender equality is fundamental to Save the Children’s work
  • Understands gender equality concepts: Demonstrates an advanced understanding of gender equality concepts.
  • Promotes knowledge sharing on gender equality: Articulates a basic description of gender inequalities as relevant to their area of focus. Fosters and seeks out learning processes related to gender equality.
  • Values diversity and inclusion and the perspectives it brings to the organization.
  • Strong writing skills
  • Intermediate Excel skills, including facility with formulas, pivot tables and filtering tools
  • Strong data visualization skills: ability to create graphs and tables that clearly communicate findings
  • STATA and/or R programming skills
Educational Background: 
Currently enrolled in Masters program or recent graduate
Skills/Experience: 
  • Possess strong written skills, solid interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.
