This internship is situated within AARP Programs on the Work & Jobs issue area team.  The goal of the team’s work is to enable the 50+ to thrive in the labor market and compete for jobs or start their own businesses.  Intern activities include, but are not limited to, providing help with communications, writing, operations, fact-checking, research and other duties.  As an intern, you will gain valuable work experience on a specific issue area (with an opportunity to expand your knowledge of wider AARP programs and the operations that support them. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Work closely with the staff in the Work/Jobs - Programs department to support team members with timely operational, communications, marketing and research tasks. 
  • Prepare materials utilizing PowerPoint, Word documents, and Excel spreadsheets. 
  • Maintain confidentiality of all AARP’s internal information
  • Gather research and compile information on a variety of topics.  This could include online searches, reviewing publications, handling databases and accessing library materials. 
Educational Background: 
Interns must be currently enrolled in a degreed program at an accredited college or university; be in good academic standing; and be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers. 
  • This may include those who have previously graduated college and are now enrolled in a continuing education program. 
Compensation/Benefits: 

Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
