FHI 360 is looking for a New Business Intern for the Economic Participation department of the Global Education, Employment, and Engagement Business Unit. This is a part time internship (number of hours to be negotiated and full-time needs will be considered) and will last three to six months, depending on candidate’s availability. The New Business Intern will support select priority business development activities for the Economic Participation team, which manages programming in areas of youth development, workforce and entrepreneurship, and inclusion. The New Business Intern will support business development activities including country and sector research, proposal development functions, tracking recruitment efforts for proposals, and preparing capacity statements. The Economic Participation New Business Intern will support pre-proposal preparation and departmental positioning activities, as well as live proposal development.
Work with senior department staff in pre-proposal preparation, including:
- country and sector research
- administrative and recruiting support
- compiling competitive landscape information
- compiling client summaries
- compiling internal project summaries, project data, and preparing related organizational capacity statements
Provide proposal development support including:
- Collecting internal organizational capacity statements and drafting past performance references
- writing and editing assigned sections, particularly those related to staffing and organizational capacity
- Undertaking administrative tasks, such as tracking a proposal calendar, scheduling proposal meetings and discussions, note-taking, etc.
- Supporting graphics and proposal production / document preparation
- Supporting recruitment of sector experts and local staff for assigned proposals;
- Formatting CVs and writing clear and concise professional summaries;
- Tracking inputs and deliverables from proposed partners
- Attend and support technical design and strategy meetings
- Provide administrative support to business development staff as needed
- Strong research and writing skills;
- Excellent computer skills, especially in formatting, graphs, diagrams and tables; and
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
- Excellent verbal and written cross-cultural communication skills
- Detail oriented with the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks
- Demonstrated interest in international development, particularly sectors such as youth, workforce, inclusion, and/or entrepreneurship; and
- Prior office experience is desired, prior experience with USAID or federal proposals a plus
- English fluency
