Deputy Director, Marketing Communications

This job is no longer available

Washington, D.C., USA
Full-time

The Deputy Director of Marketing Communications will support the fundraising team in the identification, cultivation and ongoing engagement of strategic partners in support of PSI’s global programs and capabilities.  The Deputy Director will:  guide our strategy and positioning with non-traditional donors; understand and map our donor journeys; craft powerful marketing and sales support materials to attract new non-traditional donors and investors; generate compelling content and experiences to strengthen our existing partnerships.  This is a business development role that bridges strategy and execution in the marketing communications arena.

Working with and through a team of fundraisers and relationship managers, the Deputy Director will instill best-in-class marketing approaches and disciplines to ensure our customers—those who entrust us to create powerful impact with their resources—are delighted, engaged and ultimately maximized.  Being both a player and coach, the Deputy Director will move easily between strategy and vision setting on the one hand and the creation and execution of communications plans and content creation on the other.  He/she will have an in-depth knowledge of CRM systems (Salesforce) and their use to help design systems and dashboards, and get the team using them, in order to improve our customer engagement.

The Deputy Director, Marketing Communications will report to the Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy (CPP) in Washington, DC and will have a dotted line, functional reporting relationship to Karen Sommer Shalett, Director of External Relations and Communications (ERC).  Collaborating with and working seamlessly between these two groups, CPP and ERC, is a primary driver of success for this position.  Travel is expected to be 20%, international and domestic.  Management duties including 2-3 individuals, or as needed.

  • Managing and developing team members, providing a marketing and customer-centric lens to their day-to-day work.
