Communications Manager

Global Catholic Climate Movement is searching for a Communications Manager to develop communications strategy and help manage its day-to-day execution. The manager is a newly created position, and will join an established team.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Project management: approximately 30%

  • working with the rest of the communications team to create a list of assets needed for campaigns
  • moving a wide range of communications projects forward by coordinating responses from staff and partners
  • Presponding to internal queries and resolving problems
  • assigning tasks and managing project calendar in Asana
  • holding a 30-minute weekly check-in with each member of the communications team to ensure they are well supported

Writing: approximately 20%

  • in coordination with the communications team and working within the framework of a communications calendar, write materials such as the following:
    • resources
    • blogs
    • web pages
    • newsletters
    • emails
    • social media posts
    • and additional items

Social media: approximately 20%

  • planning social media posts
  • coordinating content across social media platforms
  • coordinating across regional teams by getting stories from regions and tying them into global campaigns
  • planning, testing, and iterating ways to increase user engagement
  • achieving agreed-upon performance metrics on social media

Email analysis and management: approximately 10%

  • planning, testing, and iterating ways to increase user engagement
  • achieving agreed-upon performance metrics on email

Website management: approximately 10%

  • planning improvements and maintenance of the full suite of GCCM websites
  • coordinating website content with other platforms (social media and email)
  • planning, testing, and iterating ways to increase user engagement
  • achieving agreed-upon performance metrics on websites

Other tasks as assigned: approximately 10%

Skills/Experience: 

Candidates should meet the following criteria:

  • demonstrate 5 to 7 years’ experience in the areas of responsibility
  • demonstrate familiarity with ecological issues at both the level of impact and the level of policy
  • demonstrate a history of writing for audiences of faith, particularly Catholics, about social justice or ecological issues and a history of writing for multiple audiences and needs
  • demonstrate an aptitude for working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and deadlines
  • demonstrate abilities to innovate, to develop new ideas and accept new ideas, and to work in collaboration with a closely knit team to execute projects/li>
  • be comfortable working in a faith-based environment

Languages

  • Flawless written and spoken English is required
  • Other languages (especially Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, or French) are a bonus
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Location: Anywhere, ideally in Latin America
Type: Full-time position
Work Environment: This role will be working remotely or in an office, based on the location.
