The United Nations Foundation links the UN’s work with others around the world, mobilizing the energy and expertise of business and non-governmental organizations to help the UN tackle issues including climate change, global health, peace and security, women's empowerment, poverty eradication, energy access, and U.S.-UN relations.

The Youth Engagement Intern will report to the Youth Engagement Manager. They will also work closely with the Youth Engagement and Advocacy Coordinator and the wider UNA-USA team.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Campus Chapters:

  • Recruit and cultivate new campus chapters nationwide
  • Develop and oversee an annual calendar for campus grassroots programs and initiatives
  • Provide assistance to students and design resources and tools for campus chapter leaders to meet expectations from the national level
  • Create project timelines and toolkits to integrate campus chapter activities into UN/UNA milestones, including UN Day, Human Rights Day, International Women’s Day, etc.

Digital:

  • Work with the Youth Engagement and Communications teams to develop website, blog, social media, and email content
  • Keep campus records up to date

Other:

  • Support national opportunities for campus chapters, such as the Emerging Leaders Fellowship and the Campus Fellows program
  • Assist with UNA-USA’s national events, including UN Day, the Global Engagement Summit, and the UNA-USA Leadership Summit
Educational Background: 
Candidate must be enrolled in a degree-granting program during the internship or must be a recent graduate (within 8 months) of a degree-granting program from a college or university
Those majoring in relevant fields such as Education, Youth Development, Women’s and Gender Studies, Political Science, International Relations, Global Health and similar fields preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Candidate must be enrolled in a degree-granting program during the internship or must be a recent graduate (within 8 months) of a degree-granting program from a college or university with a demonstrated interest in gender equality and international development and/or global politics
  • Interest and/or experience in professional or campus organizing, grassroots outreach, political campaigns, and/or canvassing preferred
  • Broad understanding of digital tools and social media
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience in Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to take initiative as a self-starter
  • Strong creativity and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well with a small, fast-paced team and manage multiple tasks
Compensation/Benefits: 

The United Nations Foundation offers unpaid full and part-time internships. We are happy to host interns who are able to receive academic credit or a stipend through their college or university. However, please note that it is not a requirement in order to intern with us.
