The Association operates out of its main office in Waltham, with regional offices in Springfield, Worcester, and Raynham, MA, and in Bedford, NH.

Working with the Public Policy team, the Advocacy intern (8-16 hours per week) will gain a better understanding of the role non-profit organizations play in public health advocacy. He or she will gain skills to prepare for a career in public health or policy, senior citizen issues and the Alzheimer’s disease arena.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Assist with planning events such as Legislative Breakfasts and State Advocacy Day
  • Recruit volunteers to attend annual AIM Advocacy Forum in Washington D.C. and Walks to End Alzheimer’s events
  • Prepare materials for legislative meetings and events
  • Accompany public policy staff to meetings at State House and in Federal district offices as needed
  • Assist with creation of content for Advocacy website and emails
  • Track bills and legislative sponsors
  • Conduct policy and public health research
  • Assist with 2020 campaign work as needed
Skills/Experience: 
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage tasks independently
  • Outgoing, energetic personality
  • Able to work efficiently with Microsoft office, especially Excel
  • Comfort with making phone calls to legislative offices and volunteers
  • Event planning, policy or advocacy experience a plus
