Summary

Oil Change International (OCI) is seeking a Regional Programs Director to support our regional teams (currently United States, Asia, and Africa) in creating and implementing effective strategies to stop fossil fuel expansion. This position will assist our regional leads in achieving regional objectives, facilitate cross-region collaboration, and ensure strategic collaboration with our global policy and finance strategies to move governments, institutions, and financing away from fossil fuels. This position will work in partnership with the Global Campaigns Director.

Oil Change is currently focusing our region-specific work in the United States, Asia, and Africa as hotspots of production and finance and places where we have a depth of existing experience and connections. Our regional work supports movements and campaigns against fossil fuel infrastructure as well as interacting with our global policy and finance strategies to challenge the fossil fuel industry most effectively in each region. Oil Change International’s global policy and finance work targets international institutions, governments, the finance sector, and the industry itself to stop the expansion of the oil and gas industry and plan for a just and equitable phase-out of fossil fuel production in line with climate goals and climate justice.

The ideal candidate for this position will be a strong people manager with experience building campaign teams, supporting staff development, driving strategic visioning, and fostering a healthy, equitable, and sustainable team culture. This role will be internally focused, helping to make other staff on the team shine and encouraging others to take on public-facing leadership roles, rather than being a primary external representative for our regional campaigns.

The Regional Programs Director is responsible for supporting Oil Change International’s regional teams in delivering meaningful and significant advances in challenging the fossil fuel industry in those regions. The Regional Programs Director will initially support three regional teams in developing strategies to fight infrastructure projects, develop policy and finance focused campaigns, challenge the industry’s social license in each respective area and support movements. The Regional Programs Director will manage our U.S. and Asia program managers and work in close partnership with our Africa director. The position will also be a member of the organization’s senior leadership team.
