Regional Director, Southeast Asia, Japan, Korea

The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Regional Director to support our Southeast Asia, Japan and South Korea markets. This position can be a home office based position within the territory.

This individual will be responsible for strategic direction and leadership in Southeast Asia, Japan and Korea markets for AHA International programs, sales and operations. Responsible for developing the strategic direction and operations to achieve defined goals in support of the approved International Business Plan. Responsible for developing and executing marketing and sales strategies that achieve international revenue goals. Responsible for supporting the financial, legal, ethical and managerial principals of AHA, and all aspects of international and regional business best practices. Responsible for developing, collaborating and directing relationships with multiple international external partners. Also, responsible for overseeing regional major gifts fundraising strategies and achieving revenue and sales goals in assigned international market.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develops and leads strategic direction of the assigned international market in support of AHA International Programs including: science, marketing, product development; distribution and material sales. Establishes mechanisms to monitor actual results against plans, communicates status of plans and initiates corrective actions as necessary so that objectives are met
  • Builds, organizes and directs a multi-functional, multilingual, multicultural staff. Ensures effective organizational structure, staffing, training and support for staff to ensure mission accomplishment in as effective and efficient manner as possible
  • Develops, reviews and manages operating budget of the assigned region
  • Develops a Three-Year Business Plan and annual plan for the expansion and implementation of programs and materials sales in the assigned international market
  • Manages key alliances, business relationships and organizations to promote science in the international region and implement AHA mission and strategic initiatives. Leverages relationships with these organizations to assist in localization of AHA materials for individual markets necessary to support international business objectives
  • Participates in representing region or providing volunteers for the International Business Committee
Skills/Experience: 
  • Five (5) years of experience in regional or international relationship management, marketing, territory development and/or training to major markets in the Territory
  • Five (5) years of experience supporting clients in the region (translators, distributors, publishers, corporations, hospitals, government, etc.) including developing contracts for services in the host countries/region
  • Five (5) years of experience working with a volunteer-based organization with skill in motivating volunteers without monetary incentives
  • Three (3) years of project management experience with ability to plan and monitor projects from inception through completion. Ability to develop and monitor budgets
  • Proficiency in one (1) foreign language within the Region
  • Demonstrated ability to work with international organizations
  • Knowledge of healthcare delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (across various cultures), partner, educate and effectively influence
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Comprehensive skill in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Travel up to 75% within region

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of experience with AHA or other international medical or relief organizations
  • Knowledge of AHA National ECC Programs, policies and procedures
  • Fluency in one or more of the languages in the assigned region
